PHIL HENDRIE SHOW, THE {STEVE BOSELL} (RADIO)
Summary
One in this comedic radio call-in series that looks at
topical issues through the eyes of different characters,
all of whom are creations of multi-voiced host Phil
Hendrie. In this episode, family man Steve Bosell
(Hendrie) sits in live in the studio, assisting host
Phil Hendrie with the broadcast. When Hendrie finds
Bosell's commentary extremely dated (Bosell tries to get
listeners to call in and voice their opinion on the O.J.
Simpson trial four years after the fact), the host
advises Bosell to mine material from his personal life.
Eager to impress, Bosell launches into a story about the
difficulties he ran into with both his family and the
law after an unusual encounter with a neighbor's dog.
"It wouldn't stop barking at me, Mr. Hendrie," an
emotional Bosell explains, "and I wanted to do something
that would show him who's boss." Bosell goes on to
reveal that he sought the advice of a specialist in
animal behavior at the University of California - Los
Angeles, who taught him about the tradition of
dominance within the animal kingdom. After some
prodding from Hendrie, Bosell reveals that he mistakenly
took the animal expert's advice literally. Pleas for
forgiveness from a remorseful Bosell and on-air
diatribes from a number of flummoxed callers follow.
