Summary
Continued from R:3151. Part two of three. One in this
series of performances by the Metropolitan Opera. In
this program, the Metropolitan Opera company performs
Mozart's opera "Cos“ fan tutte," sung in English. As
Act I continues, the heartbroken girls mourn their
lovers' abrupt departure. After Don Alfonso informs
Despina of the plan to fool the girls into being
unfaithful, the men return disguised as Albanians and
venture to win the affections of each other's
girlfriends. They pretend to take poison after being
rejected by the two girls, and Despina, disguised as a
doctor, pretends to bring them back to life. However,
the girls remain faithful to their absent lovers.
