Summary
One in this series of interview programs hosted by Dick Cavett. On this program, Cavett interviews comedians Jack Benny and Bill Cosby, and pugilist "Smokin'" Joe Frazier. In the first segment, Jack Benny talks about a benefit performance in New York at which he plans to play the violin; the recent success of George Burns's musical recordings; the few times in his life he has gotten drunk; and the sexual practices of the biblical couple Adam and Eve. Cosby offers observations on growing up in the projects in Philadelphia, playfully engages in verbal sparring with fellow panelist Benny, and tells a long anecdote about attempting to play the drums for serious jazz musicians. After showing footage of Frazier being knocked down six times in his recent championship title loss to George Foreman, Cavett and his guests question the fighter about that particular fight and the sport of boxing. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
(Cavett hosted several talk shows under the title "The Dick Cavett Show," which aired on ABC from 1969 to 1972, on PBS from 1977 to 1982, on the USA network from 1985 to 1986, and on CNBC from 1989 to 1995. During 1973 to 1975, the show aired irregularly as part of "ABC's Wide World of Entertainment." Other versions of "The Dick Cavett Show" include a variety series on CBS in 1975 and a talk show on ABC in 1986.)
