PRISONER, THE: A CHANGE OF MIND (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about a man who finds himself imprisoned in a quaint yet menacing resort village, where futuristic technology keeps him under constant surveillance, making escape seem impossible. In this episode, Number Six is taunted and attacked while exercising; for defending himself, he is labeled "unmutual" and warned by Number Two that any further actions of this kind will result in "instant social conversion." Number Six persists in retaining his individualism and is promptly given a drug treatment which renders him unconscious. The ensuing hallucinations lead him to believe that he has undergone a frontal lobotomy. Number Eighty-six is assigned the task of supervising Number Six's convalescence and preparing him for further interrogation by Number Two. When Number Eighty-six attempts to slip a sedative into his tea, Number Six, who has feigned rehabilitation, deftly switches cups and tries to persuade her to turn against the powers that be. Commercials deleted. (This series was rebroadcast on CBS in the summer of 1968.)
