GIRLS ON TOP: FOUR-PLAY {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The premiere in this British sitcom about four female flatmates and their landlady. In this episode, after a long wait, hardcore feminist Amanda Ripley finally secures a furnished two-bedroom flat. However, Shelley DuPont, a loud, rude, and moneyed would-be actress from America, tries but fails to steal the apartment from her. Checking out the flat, Amanda meets her pseudo-elegant landlady Chloe Carlton, as well as the previous tenant, the flighty Candice Valentine. Eventually, Amanda comes to realize that she doesn't have enough cash to front the rent and will be forced to take a roommate. Meanwhile, her daft, freeloading childhood friend, Jennifer Marsh, tries to move in with her. Searching through her address book and the local classifieds, Amanda finds no suitable flatmates. However, one man -- whom Amanda thinks is from the classifieds, but is actually Candice's shady, on-again, off-again boyfriend -- steals Amanda's money and her car. When Jennifer is sent on an errand to the real-estate office, she finds the still-homeless Shelley and brings her back to the apartment. Eventually, Amanda comes to realize she may have to live with Shelley, Jennifer, and Candice after all -- especially since none of them will leave.
