MUPPETS AT WALT DISNEY WORLD, THE (TV)

Summary

In this music/variety special, Jim Henson's Muppets visit Walt Disney World in Florida. En route to Kermit the Frog's hometown, Paradise Swamp, for the annual Frog Festival and Bug Fry, the Muppets discover Walt Disney World on the other side of the swamp. The Muppets have several run-ins with an irate, bumbling security guard (played by Charles Grodin), and split up into small groups to explore the wonders of the amusement park. Highlights include the following: one of the Muppets forces Miss Piggy to accompany him on a variety of scary and thrilling rides, including the Star Tours rollercoaster and the Magic Teacup; Rowlf the Dog performs "live from the detention hall of the Disney World Pet Care Center" with other familiar Muppet dogs; Fozzie Bear, who brings his mother along for the trip, performs a comedy routine on a street corner to get some cash; Statler and Waldorf take a ride on a horse-drawn trolley and sing "Who's Your Lady Friend" to a female passenger; Gonzo and his sweetheart, Camilla the Hen, tour the park and visit the Disney World laundry center; Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem perform "Rockin' All Around the World" in costumes from different countries; guest star Raven-Symoné sings "The Rainbow Connection" to cheer up Kermit, who is disappointed because his friends did not like his hometown; and the entire Muppet gang meets Mickey Mouse in his executive office. Also included are appearances by characters from "It's a Small World" and other Disney World exhibits, as well as the Disney characters Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In a spectacular climax, the cast gathers at the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" stunt exhibit, where Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog perform in a special show, "Raiders of the Lost Pig."
