TANNER '88: SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING NEW (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, directed by Robert Altman and written by Garry Trudeau, about a fictitious presidential candidate named Tanner. Actual candidates from the 1988 presidential election appear in this series. In this episode, Tanner speaks to irate schoolchildren, commenting on the murdered young boy that he found in the vacant lot. This leads to an impromptu -- and illegal -- Pied Piper-esque march on the state capitol. Tanner also announces his would-be cabinet, including such notables as Ralph Nader, Gloria Steinem, and Art Buchwald. Meanwhile, at the wedding dinner for Tanner and Joanna, while friends and associates fete the couple, General Tanner chooses to blast the pairing, possibly threatening their marriage altogether. This program is closed-captioned.
