ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?: THE TALE OF THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE (TV)
Summary
One in this anthology series of ghost stories and scary tales for children. The young storytellers in the "Midnight Club" gather each week by a campfire in the woods to tell ghastly, but not gory, accounts of spooky occurrences. This episode concerns a teenager named Dean who finds everything in life to be a struggle. His best friend, Alix, assures him that his luck will change. Then, an archaeologist visits the school and displays artifacts for the students. Dean becomes intrigued by a gold scepter and stays after class to take a closer look at it. Suddenly, the jewels on the scepter begin to glow and Dean becomes hypnotized. Soon after, Alix notices that Dean has changed: he does exceptionally well on his exams, spends his time with a new group of friends, and displays a harsh attitude. Dean says that his luck has finally changed for the better, but Alix is suspicious. She discovers that Dean is attempting to resurrect the evil sorcerer who originally owned the scepter. Though Alix has no special powers, she knows that she must save her friend from destroying himself and those around him. Commercials deleted.
