Summary
The premiere episode of six in this satirical comedy series about an elite branch of a city police force, the Police Squad.
In this episode, a man named Ralph Twice is shot in a credit union and the woman who works there, Sally Decker, claims that she shot Twice because he shot her boss during an attempted robbery. When Drebin and the squad find out that Twice has no record and appears to be an upstanding citizen, they investigate further and find that Sally recently paid off a large debt to her orthodontist and shot both men herself in order to cover up her theft. Packed with sight gags and non-sequiturs, this episode includes a trip to Little Italy in which the Coliseum and the Leaning Tower of Pisa figure prominently, and a scene in which Sally Decker is served hors d'oeuvres while giving her formal police statement to an officer who is wearing a tuxedo. The series' running gags include scenes in an elevator that stops in outlandish places. In this episode, Drebin and his boss ride the elevator as a woman in a swimsuit gets off at a floor with an elegant swimming pool. Commercials deleted.
