TOMORROW COAST TO COAST {CHARLES MANSON} {SEGMENTS} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of late-night topical interview programs hosted by Tom Snyder. This special edition features segments of an exclusive interview held at the California Medical Facility at Vaccaville with convicted mass murderer Charles Manson. Manson, along with his cult members, was sentenced to death on April 19, 1971, for the 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and eight others. The sentences were reduced to life imprisonment in 1972 with the abolition of California's death penalty. Manson discusses the following topics, among others: his life in prison; ways in which he is different from the "maniacs" who are still roaming the streets; what he would do if he were ever released from prison; whether he actually killed anyone or just ordered others to kill for him; the size of his following when he was leading his cult; the experience of being in and out of prison for thirty-four years; his relationship with his mother; the kind of student he was when he attended school; the allegations of rampant drug use and uninhibited sex among his followers; the reason for which he is not allowed to associate with other inmates at the prison; his chances of ever being paroled; why he believes people should not be scared of him; and his feelings when the death penalty was revoked.

(This program contains adult-oriented language and material.)
