JETSONS, THE: MISS SOLAR SYSTEM (TV)

Summary

One in this series of animated programs about the daily activities of the Jetsons, a middle-class family living in the twenty-first century. In this episode, Jane is infuriated when husband George -- glued to the television because of an appearance by glamorous movie star Gina Lolajupiter -- doesn't even notice she has donned a brand new dress and then, attempting a compliment, tells her she looks almost good enough for the Miss Solar System Beauty Contest. Encouraged by her friend Gloria, Jane secretly enters the contest, which happens to be sponsored by George's employer, Spacely Space Sprockets. During the talent competetion, Jane brings down the house with a jazzed-up version of the old folk ballad, "Won't You Fly Home Bill Spacely," but what she doesn't count on is that George is judging the contest. Commercials deleted.

(Forty-one new episodes of "The Jetsons" were produced in 1985 for syndication; ten in 1987.)
