ANDERSONVILLE {PART 2 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
Continued from T:41865. Part two of this two-part drama about the events of the deplorable Andersonville stockade in Georgia which served as a prison to more than 45,000 Union soldiers in 1864-1865 during the Civil War. In part two, the rapacious "Raiders" -- northern prisoners who maintained sway over their fellow Yankees in the stockade through brute force -- are placed on trial after having been overcome by a brave uprising by their fellow inmates. After passing judgment on the Raiders, the Union men are offered freedom if they agree to join the Rebels. Sgt. McSpadden commands the 19th Massachusetts Volunteers to refuse the offer to become turncoats and leave Andersonville despite the spectre of death which consumes the stockade. As members of the 19th Massachusetts regiment and others continue to die, the prisoners await the day they will be freed in a prisoner exchange and can return to their homes and families. Commercials deleted.
