STAR TREK: VOYAGER: DEADLOCK (TV)
Summary
One in this series of programs about the USS Voyager, a twenty-fourth-century starship lost in the far regions of uncharted outer space, and its commander, Captain Kathryn Janeway. In this program, Ensign Wildman gives birth to a baby girl, but complications arise. Meanwhile, in an attempt to avoid a confrontation with the Vidiians, Captain Janeway orders the ship to travel through a plasma drift. As the ship emerges, its supply of antimatter begins to deplete, so Torres recommends firing proton blasts as a remedy. Before they can do so, the ship is suddenly being destroyed by proton blasts that seem to be originating from within the ship. More and more of the crew become wounded, and Wildman's baby is unable to survive due to damage to medical equipment. And tragically, Ensign Harry Kim falls through a breach in the ship and he is pulled into outer space. As Kes leaves sick bay, she suddenly vanishes into a mysterious spatial rift. Meanwhile, in a parallel reality, the USS Voyager is completely intact. Kes, who had disappeared from the battered Voyager, appears on the intact Voyager and winds up meeting her counterpart in sick bay. She tells the duplicate crew of the intact Voyager about the casualties on the other ship. Janeway realizes that their proton blasts are passing through the spatial rift and destroying the other ship, so she orders Torres to stop firing. The crew theorizes that due to the instability of the plasma field, a duplicate Voyager was created, but since antimatter cannot be duplicated, both of the ships are trying to survive on the same energy source. After many attempts, Torres manages to establish a communication link between the twin ships. Capt. Janeway of the damaged ship offers to destroy her vessel in order to save the intact one, but the other Janeway refuses the offer. And, when the Vidiians board the intact Voyager, one of the two captains makes a bold sacrifice. Commercials deleted. This program is closed-captioned.
