MURDER, SHE WROTE: A QUAKING IN ASPEN (TV)
Summary
One in this murder mystery series about an unassuming Maine mystery writer turned sleuth named Jessica B. Fletcher, who uses her professional insight to help solve real-life homicide cases. In this episode, Jessica sets out to prove that her friend, Lainie Boswell, did not murder her husband in order to collect millions of dollars in insurance money. Though Mr. Boswell perished in a car accident, the police have reason to believe that the death was no accident. Jessica happens to be visiting Lainie in Aspen, Colorado, when the police arrest the widow for murder. Apparently, they found an eyewitness who saw Lainie purchase the kinds of items used to cause her husband's car to explode just days before the crash. In addition, Mr. Boswell's insurance company sends Charlie Garrett, a private investigator undercover in the guise of a stockbroker, to Aspen to prove that the death was premeditated. Only Jessica knows Garrett's true identity and agrees to keep it a secret in the hopes he will prove Lainie innocent. Meanwhile, Lainie's daughter is involved with a sleazy man who, unbeknownst to her, is using her to get an inside scoop about her mother. In the end, Jessica and Charlie find out the truth about Mr. Boswell's death, but their discovery is a surprise to everyone including the deceased. Commercials deleted.
