GUN: THE SHOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere of this anthology series that traces the intricate path of a handgun as it changes hands and alters various lives. As the program begins, Jack Booth recklessly fires bullets into the family television with his new gun and, having enraged his wife, he pawns the firearm. The pistol then crosses paths with Harvey Hochfelder, an out-of-work actor who is moving away from Los Angeles with his wife and son. At a convenience store on their way out of town, the impatient actor throws a hysterical fit about the slow-moving checkout line -- and at the same time, a criminal enters and holds up the store with the recently pawned pistol. Exasperated, Harvey shrieks at the panicked robber, who flees in the family car with their young son. Harvey grabs the gun and apprehends the robber, causing a media frenzy to descend upon the newly crowned hero and his family. Talk-show appearances spark the actor's sagging career, but after identifying the robber in a lineup, Harvey fears he may not live to enjoy his rewards and acquires the "lucky" gun from the robbery. When a studio negotiates rights for a television movie, the actor demands that he play himself in the starring role. The sexual advances of Kathy Ireland, who is slated to play his wife, distract him from a sinister phone call -- until two hoodlums apprehend him. Persuading them to consider an alternative to murder, Harvey forges a dangerous contract with them. And his wife, Dora, grows jealous of Kathy Ireland and demands a divorce unless he quits the television movie. The filming of the convenience store shoot-out has scarcely begun when it comes to an abrupt and unexpected halt. Includes previews for upcoming installments of "Gun." Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
