GUIDING LIGHT {LUJACK IS HELD HOSTAGE} (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running daytime serial about the residents of the midwestern town of Springfield. In this episode, Lujack has gone undercover to infiltrate the Galahads and has disappeared. Alex and Beth fear that something dreadful has happened and the police try to find possible leads. Highlights of this episode include the following: Reva is eager to attend Billy and Vanessa's party, which surprises H.B. and Trish, since Josh will probably be there; Darcy holds Lujack hostage at gunpoint and confesses she always loved him; Lujack tries to grab the gun, but Darcy threatens to shoot him; Reva appears at the party with H.B. just as Billy and Josh are speculating that she will not show up; H.B. announces he is making a generous donation to the hospital in Reva's name, infuriating Josh, who thinks that Reva is using H.B. for his money; the police find an empty chair with a bullet hole and fresh blood trails at the Galahads' headquarters; and Josh makes a scene at the party after he witnesses a drunken Phillip making a pass at Reva. Once Josh thinks he has embarrassed Reva, she turns the tables on him and gives him what he wants. As the program concludes, Alex and Beth are distraught to learn that the blood found at the gang's headquarters matches Lujack's blood type. Commercials deleted.
(The title of this series was "The Guiding Light" on radio from 1937 to 1956 and on television from 1952 to 1977; in 1977 the title was changed to "Guiding Light.")
