MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN {EPISODE 75} {LORETTA'S APPEARANCE ON THE DINAH SHOW} (TV)
Summary
The first of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, as Mary and Martha watch on the television set in Mary's kitchen, Loretta makes her appearance on Dinah Shore's first live television broadcast. Loretta speaks with Dinah's first guest, Dr. Elvin Cabe, about his book, "Bone Surgery: Its Impact on the Inner City," and then sings her hit song, "Baby Boy." After a commercial break, Loretta teaches Dinah how to make sweet-potato pie, and they talk about a number of topics -- Loretta's trip to Hollywood, her upcoming singing engagement in Las Vegas, the friendliness of Dinah's staff -- until Loretta makes an anti-Semitic remark, and Dinah's producer stops the program. Commercials deleted.
