Summary
The second of two episodes on this tape. One in this satirical soap opera series about Mary Hartman, a housewife from Fernwood, Ohio. In this episode, Mary tells Dr. Medwith that Tom tried to rape her and is stunned by his response, a quotation from the Bible. During Merle's mayoral television rally Loretta sings a song pleading for Charlie to come back home to her. He hears it over the radio while he is on the verge of suicide. Although Loretta's song keeps him from killing himself, he is reluctant to return to her while he still is unable to perform sexually. Joe Sutonni steps in and tries to convince Charlie that his problem is simply psychological and can easily be overcome. Meanwhile, Merle tries a new and startling campaign strategy that has viewers worried that their television sets are malfunctioning. Commercials deleted.
