DARK SHADOWS {ROGER PANICS ABOUT BURKE} (TV)

Summary

This is the second of two episodes on this tape. One in this gothic daytime serial about the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine. In this episode, governess Victoria Winters has just settled into her new room at Collinwood when she meets Carolyn Collins, who welcomes her to "the house of Usher" and advises her to go back to New York. In Collinsport, Roger Collins is trying to find local artist Sam Evans, with his attempts becoming increasingly desperate. When he can't find Sam anywhere, Roger goes to the Collinsport Inn's diner to see Sam's daughter, waitress Maggie Evans. Maggie provides no clues to her father's whereabouts, but Roger runs into Bill Malloy, who runs the Collins family's fishing fleet. Bill tells Roger about Burke Devlin's return to town after spending ten years in prison, a subject about which Roger feigns indifference. In the meantime, Burke is at the Blue Whale bar, offering Joe Haskell -- Carolyn's boyfriend -- money for information on the Collins family. Bill breaks up the encounter and warns Burke to stay away from the Collins family. Burke retorts that he's only beginning his campaign of revenge against the Collins family in general, and Roger in particular. As the episode ends, Victoria returns to her bedroom and finds that someone -- or some thing -- has been there, leaving a letter on her bed. Carolyn appears to know more than she lets on, warning Victoria to keep her door locked throughout the night. Includes commercials.
