STRANGERS WITH CANDY: A BURDEN'S BURDEN (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series that follows the exploits of Jerri Blank, a forty-six-year-old high-school freshman and self-described former "user, boozer, and loser." In this episode, teachers Jellineck and Noblet begin a torrid affair in the last stall of a dark men's room. Elsewhere in the school building, Jerri learns about reproduction in her sex-education class. For homework, Jerri is ordered to take care of an actual live infant for a week so that she may learn the importance of responsibility. Jerri does her best to care for the infant -- she gives it a torn aluminum can to play with, for example -- but, after one night of sleeplessness caused by the baby's crying, Jerri decides to abandon it in a local playground. Jellineck and Noblet stumble across the lost child later that night, or rather early the next morning, while lurking around the park. Principal Blackman decides that the best way to punish Jerri for her carelessness is to assign her another week with the baby. When she protests, the school officials agree to team her up with a "co-mother." Tammy Littlenut, an object of Jerri's barely contained lust, is given the job. Jerri becomes delusional, focusing on her "marriage" to Littlenut instead of her responsibility to the baby. Convinced the toddler is coming between her and her spouse, Jerri decides to arrange some "quality 'us' time" with Tammy. She tricks Tammy into meeting her at a seedy motel across town and does her best to seduce the co-mother. Before Jerri can work her charms to their maximum potential, however, she is caught neglecting the baby by Jellineck and Noblet, who happen to be at the same motel. Commercials deleted.
