YANGNIU ZAI BEIJING {FOREIGN BABES IN BEIJING} {PT. 4
OF 20} {MANDARIN CHINESE} (TV)

Summary

One in this dramatic series chronicling the love affairs of two American girls living in Beijing who become involved with the inhabitants of a traditional Chinese courtyard. In this installment, Louise and Tianliang continue their English lessons -- much to the dismay of Mr. Li. One day when Louise comes to visit Tianliang, Mr. Li lies and tells her his son is out. When Tianliang walks out of his room to greet her, Louise worries that she is not welcome in the courtyard. After Mr. Li continues to interrupt their sessions, the pair go next door to study in Qingzi's room. In the meantime, Jessie visits Tianliang's brother Tianming at his office, asking him to take her out to lunch and dinner as part of a tour of Beijing. Qingzi spots them at lunch and later reports what he has seen to Tianming's wife, Qin Fen. The next day when Louse comes to the courtyard, she asks Qin whether perhaps Mr. Li doesn't like her because she has blonde hair and blue eyes. She then takes Qin to a beauty shop, where Louise gets her hair dyed black and Qin dyes hers blonde. Back in the courtyard Louise asks Mr. Li and Mr. Du if she now looks like a Chinese wife. They agree -- but Mr. Li is still determined not to accept the American as his daughter-in-law. The next morning in the park, he seeks the help of a group of old friends. One suggests that the best way to drive the foreign girl away from Tianliang might be to find him a Chinese girlfriend.
