Summary

One in this series of current events documentary programs, hosted by Edward R. Murrow. This broadcast features clips from Marian Anderson's tour of Asia. The program opens with her visit to the U.S. Army in Korea. She receives a degree from a Korean women's university; journeys on to Bangkok, where she sings; and continues on to a royal reception in Vietnam, where she converses with a Buddhist scholar. Her tour moves on to Burma and to the Federation of Malaya, where she sings the country's national anthem as well as "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught." In India, she performs with the Bombay City Orchestra and visits a statue of Gandhi. Murrow closes. Sponsored by ITT and arranged by the American National Theatre and Academy for the U.S. State Department.
