This live presentation of the 30th Annual Emmy Awards celebrates outstanding achievement in television, 1977-1978. Celebrities who introduce clips from old and recent programs and present awards include: master of ceremonies Alan Alda, Cicely Tyson, Norman Lear, Gail Parent, Robert Alda, Carl Reiner, Rob Reiner, Danny Thomas, Marlo Thomas, Lee Rich, David Janssen, and Daniel Petrie. Individual winners include the following: Paul Bogart and Rob Reiner for "All in the Family"; Julie Kavner for "Rhoda"; Jean Stapleton and Carroll O'Connor for "All in the Family"; and Gerald Green and Marvin J. Chomsky for "Holocaust." Program winners include "All in the Family" and "The Rockford Files." During the second hour, celebrities presenting awards and introducing clips from old and recent programs include: Alda, Carol Burnett, Michael Learned, Henry Winkler, Lindsay Wagner, Julia Child, Kristy McNichol, Jack Albertson, Jack Lord, Kate Jackson, LeVar Burton, Jacques Cousteau, Linda Carter, and Dick Van Dyke.
