ABC NEWS CLOSE-UP: MISSION: MIND CONTROL (TV)
Summary
One in this series of irregularly scheduled documentaries. This program examines the efforts of the CIA and other intelligence agencies to learn to control human behavior. The CIA's search for a "truth drug" is traced through interviews with the following people: John Gittinger, ex-chief psychologist of the CIA; John Marks, author and consultant to this program; and Dr. Timothy Leary. Looking at the harmful effects, including death, of the testing of these drugs on unwitting persons, Altmeyer talks with James Thornwell, a victim of such testing. Altmeyer details CIA-funded research in brainwashing at McGill University in Montreal. Includes commercials.
