JUKE BOX JURY {PETER POTTER'S JUKE BOX JURY} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of programs in which a "jury" of
celebrity panelists guesses which new songs will be
"hits or misses" on the popular music charts. "Judge"
Peter Potter presides over the guest jury whose
members this week are bandleader Stan Kenton, vocalist
Helen O'Connell, singing movie star turned celluloid
tough guy Dick Powell, and actress Sheree North. Songs
discussed in this program include the following: "Song
of the Vagabonds/Only a Rose" (Dick Jacobs Orchestra
and Chorus), "You Oughtta Be Mine" (Peggy Lee), and
"Shame, Shame, Shame!" (Billy Williams). When the jury
is deadlocked over a song -- which is accompanied by the
shuffling of young dancers -- the studio audience, known
as the "grand jury," decides the song's fate. Includes
commercials and public service announcements.
(Network affiliation varies: "Juke Box Jury" began as a
