Person of Interest is a crime thriller about an ex-CIA agent and a mysterious high-tech billionaire who prevent violent crimes with the help of an all-seeing “Machine” that can predict events before they happen and identify those involved. Although they’ve saved countless lives thanks to The Machine’s omniscience, John Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) and unpredictable cyber-hacker Root (Amy Acker) now face an uncertain future. With a second machine—Samaritan—online, the elusive team is now a target itself, hiding in plain sight. The only thing more frightening than the ruthless Decima organization calling the shots is leaving those decisions up to an untested Machine. Facing a dangerous tomorrow, the POI team must find a way to outsmart Samaritan, an all-seeing, all-powerful artificial intelligence that’s self-governing, continually evolving, and growing stronger every day.

Created by Jonathan Nolan (whose screenplays include Interstellar, Memento, and the two Dark Knight movies), Person of Interest “has slowly and steadily grown into a sustained critique on the American security state and a musing on a post-human future,” according to Vox’s Todd VanDerWerff. Person of Interest’s success is propelled by the bond between viewers and an extremely compelling cast of unique characters, brought to life by Caviezel, Emerson, Acker, and Kevin Chapman, working in conjunction with a stable of superbly gifted writers.
