Avner Ronen, CEO & Cofounder, Boxee
12:30 – 2:00 PM
As the Internet continues to revolutionize the TV and cable industry, Boxee is leading the charge. An open-source, cross-platform media player, Boxee allows users to easily access Internet video and music sites and experience that content in their living rooms—relaxing on the sofa in front of their flat-screen TV—instead of on their laptops.
At the helm of this innovative application is Avner Ronen, cofounder and CEO. Previously, Ronen was the head of corporate development and mergers and acquisitions for Comverse, Inc., a leading provider of software and service to Telecom service providers. He was responsible for acquisitions valued at $450 million, which were key to the company's evolution from a voicemail company to a billing and VAS provider.
Mr. Ronen joined Comverse in 2002 when they acquired Odigo, a company he cofounded in 1998. Odigo was one of the early instant messaging services on the web, serving over 8 million users worldwide.
Prior to Odigo, Mr. Ronen served for 4 ½ years in the Israeli Defense Force in the special computer unit, MAMRAM.
