Paley Media Council Review of CES 2015

The Paley Media Council hosted a review of CES 2015 on January 14th, featuring hands-on demonstrations of this year's most groundbreaking products and in-depth exploration of emerging trends with media and technology experts and leaders. Expert panelists included moderator Jason Hirschhorn, YouTube sensation Marques Brownlee, Advancit Capital's Jon Miller, and The Verge Deputy Editor David Pierce, with product demos from Sony, Dell, Suitable Technologies, Samsung, and Parrot.
Moderator: Jason Hirschhorn, CEO and Chief Curator, REDEF
Mr. Hirschhorn is CEO of The ReDEF Group, a digital content curation company. Previously, Mr. Hirschhorn served as Co-President of Myspace Inc., an affiliate of News Corp. and as President of Sling Media, Inc. He has also served as Chief Digital Officer of MTV Networks. Mr. Hirschhorn currently is on the board of directors of MGM and CFY. Mr. Hirschhorn holds a B.S. in International Business and Marketing from New York University's Stern School of Business.
Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), Tech Reviewer and Internet Personality
Marques Brownlee - also known as MKBHD - is a video producer, host, tech-reviewer, Verge collaborator, and Internet personality best known for his technology focused YouTube channel (2m+ subscribers), one of the fastest growing channels on the platform. Marques started uploading to YouTube six years ago while still in high school and combines a deep devotion to his viewers with an easy-to-understand style that makes technology accessible to anyone. Today, Marques balances running his one-man media empire - scripting, shooting, and editing all of his videos himself - with life as a full-time college student and professional ultimate frisbee player. He's been called "the best technology reviewer on the planet" by former Google SVP Vic Gundotra and a "tech-review prodigy" by Wired. Twitter: @mkbhd
Jon Miller, Partner, Advancit Capital
Jonathan Miller is a partner at Advancit Capital and Chairman of Indigenous Media. He was the chief digital officer and chairman and CEO, Digital Media Group for News Corporation, a role in which he drove the company's overall digital strategy in conjunction with various operational heads, while also directly overseeing all of News Corp.'s standalone digital businesses. He also acted as News Corp.'s principal executive for Hulu. Previously, Jon was chairman and CEO of AOL, where he led the company to a record annual profit growth of 21 percent, and increased online advertising growth-the centerpiece of its new business model-by 46 percent in 2006. Jon was a founding partner of Velocity Interactive Group, an investment firm focusing on digital media and the consumer Internet space. He is a cofounder of Fuel Media Commerce, which focused on early stage investments. Jon is on the board of Trip Advisor (audit), Shutterstock (nominating and governance), Open X (chair), and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. In addition, he serves as a nonprofit director/trustee for the American Film Institute, BBC Global News, International Emmy Association, Independent Film Project, and The Paley Center for Media.
David Pierce, Deputy Editor, The Verge
David Pierce is a deputy editor at The Verge, in charge of the site's features and reviews programs. He also leads a 40-person-plus team of Verge staffers every year at CES, and has so far brought everyone back alive and almost entirely sane. He's also written for Wired, the Washington Post, and PC Magazine, and has appeared on ABC, CNN, CNBC, the BBC, and elsewhere to talk about technology. He loves CES. Twitter: @piercedavid.
