Mirror, Mirror: Science Fiction as Metaphor

 < PALEYEDUCATION : Onsite Classes

Grades 9–12

Class Description

Using clips from radio and television—e.g. War of the Worlds, Star Trek, The Outer Limits, and The Twilight Zone—this workshop will explore how science fiction uses metaphor to discuss controversial political and social issues both historical and current. Using critical thinking skills and guided questioning, we will examine how these programs connect to social studies and ELA content.

All classes are interactive, with guided discussion designed to encourage active observation and critical thinking.
