CRIMINAL MINDS: MASTERPIECE (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about a team of "profilers" from the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, all of whom track criminals by anticipating their actions.
In this episode, Rossi and Reid talk to a group of college students about FBI career opportunities. Before Rossi and Reid leave the university, they're approached by a man who identifies himself as Professor Rothchild. He shows them photos of seven female homicide victims whose bodies were never found. He says that five more people will die in the next nine hours unless the BAU agents save them. Back at headquarters in Quantico, Hotch gets Garcia to analyze the victims' photos.
As Rossi and Reid arrive with the now-arrested Rothchild, a police report is heard that daycare worker Kaylee Robinson was abducted with her four young charges. Rothchild smirks as the team tries to figure out their location. Though Rossi denies Rothchild's request to deal exclusively with Reid, Rothchild reveals that one victim may die each hour as sulfuric acid is dropped on them. Just then, Garcia receives a video showing Robinson and three of the children. The agents question if the fourth child is already dead. Reid then realizes that the pattern of stuffed toys left at the daycare center matches the pendant which Rothchild wears. The pendant's pattern helps identify the town where the victims are being held.
Agents Prentiss, Morgan, Hotch, Todd, and Reid subsequently go to the house in question. Rossi then returns to Rothchild and gets him to explain his twisted motivations. Rothchild states that the abductions were merely a cover to get the agents to go inside the house. Rothchild says they'll be trapped inside and killed, becoming the promised five victims. He also tells Rossi that he's the brother of William Grace, the serial murderer whom Rossi once imprisoned. Upon completion of the confession, Rossi reveals that it was all recorded. Rossi also states that Hotch's group realized that the house was booby-trapped and never entered. Later, they found Robinson and the children to be safe. Rossi takes satisfaction in telling Rothchild that he'll be charged with kidnapping, and for the murders of the seven missing women. Commercials deleted.
