DATING GAME, THE {ROBERT VAUGHN, SALLY FIELD} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of game shows hosted by Jim Lange in which a bachelor or bachelorette must select a date from three anonymous contestants by asking them a series of irreverent interview questions. For the first nighttime show, Lange introduces the first three bachelors: advertising executive Bill Davis, orthopedic surgeon Charles Lane, and "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." star Robert Vaughn. The bachelorette, beauty queen and Miss America first runner-up Karen Carlson, takes the stage and chats with the three bachelors. After the interview, she selects Bachelor #3. She briefly greets the other two men before meeting her date, and is shocked to learn that he is the famous TV actor. She is further surprised to learn that their date will be in London, thanks to her previous statement about wanting to someday live in a classic English home.

Next, "Gidget" star Sally Field takes the stage to select from three men, two of whom she already knows: her former surfing instructor Duane King, her high school boyfriend Mike McConachy, and the unknown John Garrett. Field questions the three men and eventually selects Garrett, surprised when she realizes that she is already familiar with the other two men and not her date. Lange then reveals that they are headed to a French restaurant and then the famous Cocoanut Grove nightclub to see performer Jack Jones, then adding that they are traveling by helicopter and leaving immediately. Lange escorts the couple outside to their ride and bids the audience good night. Commercials deleted.
