NATIONAL LAMPOON RADIO HOUR, THE {SHOW #6} (RADIO)

Summary

One in this series of hyperkinetic comedy programs comprised of dozens of fast paced sketches and song parodies. This special episode, which is referred to as the "First Traditional Christmas Show," mixes Christmas carols with comedic bits. The program is based around a running storyline in which an airplane filled with children are hijacked by a Palestinian terrorist group called the Black September Movement. The children on the plane are being taken around the world by a teacher who wants to teach the kids about the ways in which the holidays are celebrated in different countries. After the hijackers make their presence known, the teacher starts to pretend that the hijackers are somehow playacting. "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" is played. In the "Laughs from the Past" segment, an unidentified Robert F. Kennedy impersonator does a brief routine. In the next bit, Chevy Chase imagines Christmas in the Soviet Union, where he says it is called "Marxmas." Next, the National Lampoontones visit an orphanage to sing a medley of songs with the word "telephone" in them. The program concludes with a spoof of his own performance style by Joe Cocker, who sings "White Christmas." Includes commercials.
