ANOTHER WORLD {JOHN LEAVES PAT AFTER LEARNING OF MARIANNE'S ABORTION} (TV)
Summary
One in this daytime serial set in the fictional town of Bay City, Illinois. This episode includes the following plot developments: Pat Randolph and her daughter Marianne prepare to tell John Randolph about Marianne's secret abortion, but are upset to learn that John failed to come home the previous night; Michael Randolph warns his mother and sister that meddling Aunt Liz visited John and may have told him everything; Carol Lamont invites Sharlene Watts and Russ Matthews to join her for dinner with Willis Frame, and Sharlene reluctantly agrees, though she and Willis are not on good terms; a disheveled John arrives at his office and berates Barbara Weaver for concealing the truth about Marianne; Michael arrives and tells John not to blame Barbara -- and in the process, makes John angrier when he realizes that Michael knew about the abortion too; at a restaurant, Sharlene confides to Russ that Willis wants her to talk Alice out of doing something and may blackmail her with a secret from her past; Scott Bradley and Pam Sloan arrive at the same restaurant where Sharlene, Russ, and Carol await Willis's arrival for dinner, and Carol is upset when Pam is frosty towards her; and Pat finds John at a hotel and tries to apologize for concealing the truth from him, but a highly emotional confrontation shakes their marriage to its foundation.
