DEFENDERS, THE: THE BENEFACTOR (TV)

Summary

One in this series of legal dramas concerning the cases of Lawrence and Kenneth Preston, a father/son defense team. In this episode, the court assigns the Prestons to defend Dr. Ernest Montgomery, who is being tried on criminal charges for performing an illegal abortion. The Prestons are intrigued by the case as they learn that Montgomery had acted on his moral principle and not from financial motivation. Although the defense team convinces many of the abortion doctor's former patients to testify on the his behalf, District Attorney Larkin stresses the strict letter of the law over the emotional nature of the testimony. As the case progresses toward a conclusion, Montgomery reveals a terrible family secret which may influence the verdict. Commercials deleted.
