LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN {DAVID DINKINS, DUSTIN DIAMOND, BELA FLECK & THE FLECKTONES} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of late-night talk shows hosted by Conan O'Brien. On this program, the guests include the Mayor of New York City David Dinkins, actor Dustin Diamond, and the musical group Bela Fleck & The Flecktones. Highlights include: in his opening monologue, O'Brien talks about the idea of using human cadavers as crash-test dummies, which has been suggested in Germany. Following the monologue, the regular segment "If They Mated" shows what the offspring of two celebrities would most likely look like; then O'Brien and his sidekick Andy Richter do a spoof on the lip-syncing duo Milli Vanilli; the first guest, Mayor Dinkins, talks about what his four years as mayor have been like, what his proudest accomplishment has been, the tremendous frustration he feels while waiting for changes to be made, the support he will offer his successor, and his efforts to keep the U.S. Open tennis tournament in New York City; before Dinkins leaves, they place a call to Governor Mario Cuomo to say hello; O'Brien's little friend, Billy Tyler, comes out and complains about almost everything that is happening in his life; the next guest, Dustin Diamond, comments on how people on the street always associate him with his character Screech on "Saved By the Bell," how he prepares to play the role of a nerd, and whether his character has changed because the show's setting has moved from high school to college; the last guests are Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, who perform an instrumental from their latest album. Commercials deleted.
