SEINFELD: THE CHRONICLE {A.K.A. THE CLIP SHOW} (TV)

Summary

This special comedy retrospective features highlights from the nine-year series run of "Seinfeld." As the program opens, Jerry talks about his friends' experiences over the last nine years. Following these comments is a montage of clips from the series, accompanied by the Superman theme. Next, George and Jerry sit in the coffee shop, pondering the state of their lives, leading to clips of George's most pathetic moments, including, among others: emerging from a cold pool and being spotted naked; pretending to be a smoker in order to break off his engagement; eating out of the garbage; and getting a very personal Christmas card from Elaine. Next, some of Elaine's embarrasing moments are chronicled, including, among others: dancing at an office party; taking too many muscle relaxants while in Florida; loudly stating her opinion of a movie while in the theater; and fighting with Jerry over nothing. Next, the surreal life of Kramer is chronicled in the following clips, among others: switching from jockeys to boxers to nothing; receiving a steaming hot towel at a restaurant; hosting his own version of "The Merv Griffin Show" in his apartment; and accusing Jerry of being an anti-dentite. Next, Jerry's sometimes ordinary life is chronicled. These clips include the following, among others: scratching his nose, which is mistaken for a pick, while waiting at a red light; receiving a telemarketing phone call; living in Kramer's apartment; and visiting George in the hospital. Following these highlights are various clips, divided into parts. "Relationships, Part One: Getting In" features clips of the following moments: Jerry forgetting his girlfriend's name, which rhymes with a part of the female anatomy; Newman talking about being in love; George being handcuffed to a bed; Kramer pretending to be Elaine's boyfriend; Jerry telling George about a woman who talked dirty to him; Elaine figuring out whether a man is worthy of her; George explaining why he wants to tell his girlfriend he loves her; and Jerry and George discussing when it is safe to consider your significant other a girlfriend. "Part Two: Getting Out" features clips of the following moments: Kramer explaining the meaning of marriage to Jerry; the reason breakups must be face-to-face; George realizing he missed out on having make-up sex; the reason that Elaine is probably going to hell; the killing of independent George; and phrases the foursome uses to describe relationship problems. "People We Know" features the following clips: Jerry helping a fellow comedian with a routine; Kramer and Mickey fighting over dates; Jerry telling Uncle Leo he should be grateful to have a girlfriend; Mr. Peterman throwing Kramer out of Elaine's office; Jerry sitting in Tim Whatley's dentist chair; Kramer seeking legal advice from Jackie Childs; Poppie's plans to cook a meal for Jerry and his date; and the devious workings of Newman. "Unusual Problems" features the following clips: Elaine talking about a first date; Jerry shaving his chest hairs; George urinating in the shower at the gym; Kramer driving a handsome cab; George looking for a new career; and Jerry complaining about being kissed by everyone in his building. Next are several bloopers from the series, leading into a montage of behind-the-scenes footage. The retrospective concludes with the four friends going separate ways at a subway stop. Commercials deleted.
