FRIENDS FOR LIFE: LIVING WITH AIDS (TV)
Summary
A documentary about eleven-year-old Chris Edwards and other children who are infected with the HIV virus. Edwards explains why you should not be afraid of people who are HIV-positive. Precious Thomas gives a school presentation about her HIV infection; afterwards the students discuss their perceptions of HIV and AIDS. In Clinton, Connecticut, the Peer Puppeteers do puppet shows about HIV education. Kids and counselors at Camp Honor at San Juan River, Utah, talk about the activities they take part in. At a high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as part of the Journey of Hope tour, Edwards and his brother Dylan talk to an auditorium full of teenagers about HIV. The brothers ride a bus to Camp Heartland in Willow River, Minnesota, which openly accepts HIV-infected children. Edwards and fellow campers talk about the camp. They also discuss their own lives and their desire to have friends and be more like regular kids. In Atlanta, Georgia, Edwards's mom talks about her family, and takes Chris to the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he undergoes regular checkups. Lastly, kids at the AIDS Walk in New York City explain why they are there.
