MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, THE: TOULOUSE-LAUTREC IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARTISTS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about Mary Richards, a single career woman working in a television newsroom. In this installment, Ted calls in sick, and Mary fills in to interview Eric Matthews, author of "Are Men Obsolete?" Lou eases Mary's anxiety about appearing before the camera when he explains that the film editor will replace Mary with Ted when the anchor returns from sick leave. During the interview, in which the pair are seated, Eric Matthews asks Mary out on a date, and she accepts. When they go out, Mary discovers that Eric is funny, intelligent, and "one to four inches shorter" than she. She confesses to her friend Rhoda that she is a "height bigot." Feeling guilty, Mary agrees to see Eric again and soon discovers that everyone has flaws. Eric dedicates his new book to Mary, who has given him the inspiration for the title, "Toulouse Lautrec Is My Favorite Artist."
