Summary
One in this comedy series about entertainer Danny Williams and his family. In this episode, which served as the pilot for "The Andy Griffith Show," Danny goes to jail for passing a stop sign in the small, rural town of Mayberry. Danny is indignant when he is arrested and fined by Sheriff Andy Taylor, whom Danny discovers is also the town's justice of the peace and newspaper editor. Believing Andy to be a corrupt, small-town politician, Danny goes to jail on principle and winds up verbally assaulting the sheriff on national television during an interview from his cell -- but kind Andy ends up getting the last word. Commercials deleted.
(This series aired on ABC as "Make Room For Daddy" from 1953-1956. Starting in the fall of 1956, the title was changed to "The Danny Thomas Show," and the series continued its run as such, on ABC, through the 1956-1957 season. "The Danny Thomas Show" switched to the CBS network in the fall of 1957, where it continued its original run through September 1964. CBS then continued airing the series, in reruns, during April-September 1965. Additionally, NBC broadcast reruns of "The Danny Thomas Show," under the title "Make Room For Daddy," during 1960 -1965.)
