MIAMI VICE: FREEFALL {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The final episode in this series of police dramas concerning Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, undercover detectives for the Miami vice squad. In this two-hour special, Crockett and Tubbs are recruited into a Drug Enforcement Agency task force and assigned the duty of escorting corrupt Latin America dictator Gen. Borbon back to America so he can testify against a drug cartel. The detectives arrive in a small republic ravaged by guerrilla warfare and terrorized by cartel chieftain Montoya, whose business interests are best served through BorbonÕs regime. With the help of Felicia, a rebel whose sympathies are torn between the communist insurgents and the fate of her people, Crockett and Tubbs plan to kidnap Borbon and rendezvous with a waiting seaplane. However, Montoya blackmails Borbon's adjutant into setting a trap for Crockett and Tubbs, who narrowly escape. Back in Miami, they find that they have been used as pawns in a government conspiracy. With the support of Lt. Castillo, Crockett and Tubbs defy the DEAÕs orders and stash Borbon away in a safe house. When Montoya, tipped off by the Miami police chief, arrives at the house with an army of assassins, Borbon fakes his own death. An investigation leads back to the DEA. Sickened by the corruption they encounter at every level and burned out by their years on the force, Crockett and Tubbs resolve to serve justice on their own terms. The program concludes with a montage of clips from the five-year run of the series. Commercials deleted.
