BROTHERS & SISTERS: A FATHER DREAMS (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about the California-based Walker family, an adult clan of siblings trying to live up to their parents' lofty expectations after the death of the family patriarch.
In this episode, Kevin recovers in Nora's home after giving part of his liver to Elizabeth. As Nora and Scotty argue over who should be Kevin's chief caregiver, Kevin weathers ongoing nightmares about Elizabeth's care and the fact that he's her biological father. Robert then stops by with Kitty to ask Kevin about some work issues. Kitty volunteers to fill in for Kevin as he convalesces. Meanwhile, Saul tries to make Nora meet with architect Roger Grant regarding her non-profit, though she nixes the idea as soon as she hears Roger's name.
Justin attends Cooper's first grade class, having been chosen by Cooper as his "show-and-tell" due to having served as a medical veteran in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a horrified Sarah watches, Cooper also relates Justin's lack of purpose since returning, making Justin feel like a failure. Elsewhere, Robert and Kitty's political squabbling leads to sexual liaisons at the office, and an improvement in their strained relationship. Back at Nora's house, Roger arrives for his appointment, which Saul failed to cancel. Sensing Nora's discomfort, Roger recalls how Nora "hit on him" thirty years ago, which she says she doesn't remember.
Feeling suffocated by his family, Kevin gets Justin to take him to a hotel. Sarah and Tommy subsequently stop by, telling Justin that he can't get his life together while he's living in Nora's home. After Scotty arrives, the conversation turns to Kevin's paternal feelings about Elizabeth, causing Tommy to make a hasty exit. Back at the Walker household, Nora tells Saul that she was trying to make William jealous by flirting with Roger thirty years ago. Nora claims that her memories of being an insecure wife make it impossible to be around Roger.
The next day, Robert comes to terms with Kitty's publicity tour for her new book, just as Tommy and Kevin meet to discuss Kevin's relationship to Elizabeth. Tommy says that he and Julia want Kevin to sign an agreement to never tell Elizabeth of her parentage. Elsewhere, Justin admits to Sarah that he's staying with Nora since he's afraid of overdosing again. Later, Justin announces to Nora that he's moving out, which Nora appears to understand. After Scotty and Kevin decide to have children of their own, Kevin visits Tommy and Julia with the signed agreement. Includes commercials.
