30 ROCK: THE TUXEDO BEGINS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the cast and production team of a sketch comedy television show. In this episode, Liz angrily complains about New Yorkers' selfish behavior, unaware that elsewhere, Jack is being mugged. Once at work, she agrees to take Jenna's place in a silly commercial parody, and Jack changes into a tuxedo, as the mugger, a middle-class man in Dockers, took his suit cufflinks, and he declares that they are clearly in a "class war" in which the very rich are victimized, though Liz argues that people are simply greedy. Jack summons his former-detective friend Len and tries to engage his assistance, but soon realizes that he is "one of them" and will not help. Liz, feeling sick, boards the subway in her old-lady costume and quickly realizes that she can take advantage of the persona to score a seat. Jenna reunites with Paul, but they fall asleep before being intimate and decide in the morning that they are engaging in a strange new kink, "normaling." Liz sinks further into her eccentric character in order to scare her fellow New Yorkers into behaving, and Jack declares that he is running for mayor, sure that only he can bring about the necessary change.
Tracy realizes that Jack has not left 30 Rock since the mugging and is merely scared because of the experience, and Jenna is horrified to realize that her life with Paul now resembles that of Pete and his wife. Kenneth reminds a maniacal Liz that she "loves rules" and cannot continue her ill-mannered public behavior, and Jack dramatically informs her that she must "pick a side" as he attempts to clean up the city. Jenna and Paul decide to test their tentative domestic bliss by engaging in "sexual walkabouts" and then reevaluating their feelings, and when Jack forces himself to go outside again, he ends up "reasserting his manhood" by fighting back against a crazed attacker: Liz. Liz observes that the watching crowd is pleased with Jack's defeat of an apparently threatening criminal and happily concludes that "old Liz was right" about New Yorkers' desire for order. Commercials deleted.
