RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE: DRAG MY WEDDING (TV)
Summary
One in this reality series featuring a competition between drag queens involving a variety of challenges to determine who will become a “drag superstar,” hosted by actor and drag queen RuPaul Charles.
This episode’s guest judges are actors Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. Courtney and Bianca start to get snippy with each other, each feeling more competitive. The mini-challenge entails the contestants creating abstract paintings for the theme of marriage equality, using body suits splattered with paint. Bianca wins the mini-challenge and RuPaul brings in a number of women whom he says he will marry onstage, as he is an ordained minister. Bianca is permitted to pair up the women with the contestants, and they are assigned the task of being the “drag mother of the bride,” using materials on hand to “make their wedding the most important day of their lives.” The grooms are brought in, and RuPaul announces the twist that each contestant will be making over the grooms, rather than the brides, and that they will be making them over to appear as brides themselves. Joslyn in particular is excited about the challenge, although Brandon, the groom he is working on, is unenthusiastic. Adore finds the challenge difficult, as she does not know how to sew. RuPaul takes the brides away to be fitted with tuxedos, leaving the contestants alone with the grooms, and they work on constructing outfits.
Adore continues to struggle with the dress construction, and she earns some catcalling from the other contestants. Joslyn’s groom, a professional athlete, is still reluctant about the entire thing and is unhappy at the prospect of wearing makeup. He worries about what his teammates will say, but the contestants try to put his fears at ease. The judges assemble and each contestant walks their “bride” down the aisle. The ceremony proceeds and the couples are all wed after saying their own vows. The contestants and their “brides” are called up to be evaluated by the judges. Joslyn’s “bride” feels uncomfortable yet again and leaves the stage and throws up. The judges deliberate on their own and bring the contestants back out. RuPaul names Bianca as the winner of the challenge, winning a trip for two to Hawaii for both herself and her couple. Adore and Joslyn are singled out as the bottom two, and lip-synch against each other to “Think” by Aretha Franklin. Ultimately, RuPaul decides to eliminate Joslyn. Commercials deleted.
