SELFIE: UN-TAG MY HEART (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a social media-obsessed woman and her attempts to "rebrand" herself in an updated take on "My Fair Lady." In this episode, Eliza tries to explain her policy for handling "haters" on social media, and when her co-workers mock her outrageous attire and flirtatious workplace behavior, Henry pulls Eliza aside and urges her to re-consider the image she is presenting within a professional setting. Eliza confirms that she is, in fact, having a no-strings-attached affair with colleague Freddy, though Henry points out that their interactions are purely sexual and do not count as dating. Eliza questions Freddy about their "relation-thingy," and he declares that he likes things as they are. Elsewhere, Henry struggles to come up with a pitch for eardrops and learns that, because he is not on Facebook, he has missed yet another social invitation. He reluctantly signs up and finds himself immediately sucked into the social-media world, and he advises Eliza to ignore Freddy's casual texts and "foster other interests" apart from men.

Eliza decides to join her nerdy neighbor Bryn's book club, and as Henry seeks deeper into his Facebook addiction, he accidentally tags himself in a very personal photo of his ex-girlfriend. At the book club, Eliza attempts to dress the part, but the other women are annoyed to see that she did not actually finish reading "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time." Henry barges in and begs her to un-tag him in the picture, and they both realize that their new endeavors are not going well. Henry does the "old-fashioned" thing and visits his ex in person to apologize for the mistake, and he is taken aback when she notes that he, unlike most of their peers, is still single because of his obsessive commitment to work. Ousted from the book club, Eliza takes an idea from Charmonique and decides to have a "cheat day" with Freddy, but she ends up falling down a manhole and Henry rushes to the ER after spotting her hospital selfie online. He is surprised when Freddy arrives and offers to help care for her, suggesting that he no longer views Eliza as a mere "booty call," but it is Henry who ends up looking after her at home.
