TRUE BLOOD: IF YOU LOVE ME, WHY AM I DYIN'? (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series based on the “Southern Vampire Mysteries” book series by Charlaine Harris about the quirky residents of a small Louisiana town where a young woman – deemed a freak because she can read minds -- falls in love with a vampire.
In this episode, Sookie finds a memory-depleted Eric on the road at night while driving. When forced, Eric recalls how Antonia -- in Marnie's body -- recited a chant which caused his amnesia. Sookie takes him back to the house and summons Pam from Fangtasia. Pam tells Sookie that Eric is in danger and must be hidden. She further cautions Sookie not to tell Bill of Eric's whereabouts, fearing that Bill set Eric up to be killed by the coven.
Across town, Lafayette, Jesus, Tara, and Holly tend to an injured Marnie, who claims that Eric attacked her after demanding that the coven members stop practicing their craft. Lafayette fears that Eric will return for revenge, telling Jesus and Tara that he intends to head him off at Fangtasia. Tara and Jesus strongly object to the plan. Elsewhere, a bloodied Jason remains chained to Crystal's bed as she continues her attempts to make him into a were-panther. As her family watches, she tries to become impregnated, assuring Jason that they'll be together after he has "turned."
Jessica goes to see Bill, and admits to having fed on a Fangtasia client. He insists that she tell Hoyt about the incident. Upon arriving home, Jessica follows Bill's advice. When the news sends Hoyt into a rage, Jessica glams him into forgetting her words. Andy also experiences a bad day as he finds himself increasingly addicted to V. As he grows increasingly out of control, Andy threatens a confused Sam.
The next day, Sookie travels to Shreveport to see Alcide. There, she asks him to shelter Eric. However, Sookie is distracted upon seeing Debbie, not knowing that she and Alcide reunited. Debbie quickly apologizes for trying to kill Sookie and says that she's now straightened out her life. Sookie departs, telling Alcide that she shouldn't have come. Back in Bon Temps, Tommy finds that Maxine could reap substantial money from her natural gas lease rights. He immediately decides to bilk her by purchasing her house with Sam. Upon hearing of the scheme, however, Sam tells him that he'll have nothing to do with it.
Sam then sees Tara and asks where she's been for the last year. Deflecting his attempts to reconnect romantically, Tara admits that she's now OK with him being a shifter. Suddenly, Jesus announces that Lafayette has disappeared from Merlotte's. Tara realizes that he's gone to Fangtasia and quickly follows with Jesus. Upon arriving, they find that Pam has imprisoned Lafayette in the basement. Tara threatens to shoot her, after which Pam relents. However, she demands that Lafayette, Tara, and Jesus produce Marnie within twenty-four hours. If they fail, she promises to kill them all. In the meantime, Marnie makes a blood sacrifice to Antonia; she now wants her body to house Antonia's spirit.
To Arlene's surprise, she finds her baby playing with an antiquated doll as Terry watches in amusement. Jessica passes the toy off as a family heirloom, not mentioning that it has continued to haunt her, as well as Hoyt, in their home. Bill is equally caught off guard as Portia offers to make their professional relationship into a personal one. Following some initial resistance, Bill succumbs to Portia's overtures and debates biting her during their subsequent lovemaking.
Finally, Claudine returns to Sookie and demands that she return with her to the faerie realm. Sookie declines, stating that she no longer approves of the faerie group's nefarious actions. Suddenly, Eric swoops down on Claudine and bites her, causing Claudine to combust as her faerie blood is drained.
