EAST LOS HIGH: ROAD TRIP (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about the lives of Latino teenagers at a fictional high school in East Lost Angeles.
Camila drives off with Jesus in the back seat suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach. He insists that she refrain from taking him to the hospital, afraid that they will inform the police. Ceci is initially angry at her dancers for doing the video shoot without her permission, but changes her attitude when she realizes that they have enough money to enter the competition in Yuma, Arizona. The male dancers tell Jacob about their encounter with the police and plan to sue them in order to assert their dignity. He advises them to speak to the Youth Justice Coalition for help. Ceci convinces Jacob to allow his employees to go to Yuma and also asks him to act as a chaperone for the boys. He cites his many responsibilities at home, and says he will consider it. Camila takes Jesus to be treated by a local doctor out of her home, and she manages to remove the bullet and stabilize his condition. She still wants to take him to the hospital, but he continues to refuse. She asks to know more about the circumstances of the shooting, but he tells her nothing.
Ceci and the Bomb Squad pile into a van in order to drive to Yuma. Eddie’s mother bids him goodbye and gives him condoms, believing that he may need them. Unbeknownst to him, his mother’s diabetes is getting worse; she has deliberately kept this from him so as not to distress him. Jacob arrives at the last minute and agrees to be the boys’ chaperone. He is surprised to learn that Vanessa is babysitting Isela while Ceci is gone, albeit only after a substantial payment. Eddie surreptitiously gets a hotel room for himself and Gina, hoping for a romantic interlude with her during the trip. Camila visits R&R and finds Liliana being questioned by the police about the shooting. She claims to know nothing about it and covers for Camila as well. The Bomb Squad arrives in Yuma and is greeted by a rival team, coached by Ceci’s ex-brother-in-law. They get into something of a verbal confrontation.
Liliana tells Camila that Jesus and his brother used to work at R&R before his brother was shot and killed the previous year in Pomona. She warns Camila not to continue associating with Jesus, believing that it could put her in danger. In Yuma, the girls tease Ceci about the apparent attraction between her and Jacob, although she insists that there is nothing to it. Camila stays up to watch over Jesus, and tells him that she may be falling in love with him. However, she feels she cannot get too close to him due to the extreme danger of his lifestyle, pointing out that it could easily claim his son as well. She reveals that she found out about his brother. He becomes frustrated at her inability to accept him the way he is. She runs out after an argument. Meanwhile, the girl members of Bomb Squad invite the boys over to their room to drink. Gina takes Filliberta aside and says she is having second thoughts about meeting with Eddie in a private room. They talk about the matter and Filliberta asks her to make sure that she won’t regret any of her decisions. She finds Eddie waiting for her in the room in a state of partial undress.
Jesus visits Camila at her home, telling her that he is in love with her as well. He says he is willing to do whatever it takes to be with her, even if it means ceasing his criminal activities. They kiss and she brings him into her room. Gina tells Eddie that she is not ready to have sex with him, apologizing for leading him to believe otherwise. Eddie accepts this and says they can take their time. Camila and Jesus have sex, and he says that she and his son are the most important people in his life at the moment. Ceci finds it difficult to sleep and speaks to Jacob by the hotel pool, feeling nervous about the upcoming competition. Jacob tries to comfort her and says he is glad he came. They express regret that they did not pursue a romantic relationship with each other. Their conversation is interrupted when Gina and Eddie jump into the swimming pool and they decide to join in. Jesus tells Camila that he is going to lay low and says he will inform her of his location. Soon the entire dance team enters the swimming pool as well. Later there is a knock at Camila’s door and it is Nicolas, much to her surprise.
