PARKS AND RECREATION: RON AND DIANE (TV)
Summary
One in this mockumentary-style comedy series about the quirky staffers of Pawnee, Indiana's parks and recreation department. In this episode, Leslie is thrilled when Ron is nominated for an award from the Indiana Fine Woodworking Association and invites herself along to the ceremony, while elsewhere Donna, April, Andy and Tom prepare for their annual "Jerry Dinner," having placed a dollar in a box every time the hapless Jerry did something mock-worthy. Ann scolds them for their mean-spirited plans, and Ben and Chris make plans to hang out for the first time in a while. At the ceremony, Leslie peppers Ron's girlfriend Diane with eager questions and declares that she is wonderful, offering Ron her hearty approval. On the way to the dinner, Donna decides that Ann is right and heads to the Gergiches' to invite Jerry to join them – but then finds that he is having an extravagant Christmas party, attended by Chris, Ben and Ann, among others. Ron is horrified when his ex-wife "Tammy Two" arrives at the woodworking event as well, and Leslie resolves to keep the "sex-crazed demon librarian" away from the happy couple.
Ann finds the partycrashers at Jerry's house and allows only Donna inside, as she was penitent enough to drive over, and Ben is surprised to see that Chris has apparently let go of many of his neuroses. Ben is shocked to meet Jerry's glamorous wife and daughters, and Andy, April and Tom are embarrassed to discover that their invitations to the party were lost in their e-mail "Jerry Filter." Ron wins the prize for his chair, though Tammy distracts him throughout his speech, and Leslie is shocked when Diane tells her that she feels threatened not by Ron's wacky ex but by Leslie herself, owing to their strangely close relationship. Chris' insecurities return in full force when Jerry's daughter Millie, whom Chris once dated, arrives at the party with her handsome new fiancé, and Leslie ends up in a wild cross-country brawl with Tammy to give Ron and Diane some time alone. Jerry spots his three co-workers and happily invites them to join the party, and they contritely give him the "Jerry Dinner" money as a present. Diane expresses her worries to Ron, but he assures her that he has no romantic interest in Leslie whatsoever and proves his commitment to intimacy by introducing her to his secret alter ego: suave jazzman Duke Silver. Leslie concludes that she is ready to retire from her role as Ron's "emotional guardian," and Ron eventually catches up with Tammy when she is captured by the police – with Leslie in the trunk.
