SCANDAL: ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF {HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER CROSSOVER EPISODE} (TV)

Summary

One in this drama/political thriller about the Pope & Associates crisis management firm in Washington D.C.

In this episode, the first in a two-part crossover special with "How to Get Away with Murder," Annalise Keating finds Olivia and requests her help in having her potentially history-making class-action lawsuit involving underfunded public defenders sent straight to the Supreme Court. As Quinn obsesses over Olivia's post-White House career, Marcus convinces Olivia to go along with the daring plan, though after reading about Annalise's "rather colorful history," including Sam's mysterious death, Olivia informs Annalise that she can't be "the face" of the lawsuit. Olivia recruits Fitz, and Annalise and Michaela Pratt are both stunned to meet the former and current Presidents Grant. Mellie then declines to assist with the lawsuit, suggesting that must wait a year until at least one conservative justice retires. Olivia, sure that Mellie is refusing merely to spite her, angrily decides to move ahead with the plan without the president's help.

Quinn and her team, wishing to prevent Olivia's return to power, spring into action to get the SCOTUS justices to reject the case. Olivia, pretending that Annalise's murky past was what caused Mellie to reject them, works on the opposite goal. Justice Mark Spivey is determined to be the wild card, prompting QPA to search for dirt on him. Michaela suggests that Olivia and Annalise appear on television together to argue their case. Jake and Mellie decide to undermine Olivia further by allowing QPA to leak the truth about her dismissal from the White House. Annalise, seeing the report on TV, declares that Olivia lied to her out of some misplaced sense of superiority. Olivia, however, points out Annalise's bullying ways and refuses to back down. As Rosen assures Abby that it's "okay to miss her," Olivia confronts Quinn and suggests that she is acting out of a desire for revenge, not the pursuit of justice for which QPA is ostensibly intended.

With Olivia's confidence shaken, Fitz reminds her of many similar victories in the past, though Olivia admits that she's "not that person anymore." Abby expresses doubts when Charlie finally uncovers Spivey's dark secret. During their TV interview, Olivia admits to being fired by Mellie but urges the media to "shift focus" to Annalise and her important case. The two women begin to bond as unexpected pals; when Spivey still refuses to hear the case, Quinn turns over their findings on him to Olivia, having decided that the lawsuit is more important than their personal conflict. Olivia confronts Spivey with information about his teenage son's concealed hit-and-run accident, explaining that, rather than blackmailing him, she is urging him to "listen to his conscience" and consider the importance of a fair justice system. Mellie is soon frustrated to learn that the case is on the SCOTUS docket after all. Annalise invites "miracle worker" Olivia to continue working alongside her. Includes commercials and promos.
