EVENING SHADE: FAST WOMEN (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Wood Newton, a former pro football star who returns to his rural hometown in Arkansas to coach the high school football team.
In this episode, Ava is alarmed to learn that Taylor, a sophomore, is dating a senior girl, Michelle Marlin. To make matter worse, Freida stops by and reveals that Evan is dating the local "striptease artist," Fontana Beausoleil. Ava declares that they are both "in way over their heads." Wood is unconcerned. However, when he calls Michelle into his office at school, he learns that she is indeed as "fast" as she is rumored to be and intends to become intimate with Taylor. Wood sits down with both Taylor and Evan and informs them that Ava disapproves of their respective relationships; his authority as her messenger falls apart somewhat when Taylor points out that Wood himself was quite the Lothario in his pro-football days. Both Evan and Wood are forced to admit that they lost their virginities – possibly to the same woman – at around fifteen, Taylor's age.
Harlan interrogates Wood and Evan about Michelle, whom he knows to be on birth control. Wood and Ava attend the school dance as chaperones and observe the happy young couple together. Wood finally tells Taylor to "wait for the right girl," and Taylor shares a dance with his mother as Wood reluctantly hits the floor with Michelle. Evan and Fontana share a romantic evening together, and Taylor returns home late that night, admitting that "nothing big" happened with Michelle. He admits that he dislikes feeling "used" by her and now intends to follow his father's advice – more or less. Commercials deleted.
