24 {TWENTY-FOUR}: DAY 1: 10:00PM-11:00PM (TV)
Summary
One in this series about each hour in the day of the life of counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer, told in real time. In this episode, over the phone, Andre orders Jack to go to Palmer's hotel and get him to unfreeze the Drazens' hidden fortune and then assassinate him, using Kim as leverage. When Jack calls CTU and declines to explain his actions, Nina, Mason and Tony realize what he is being forced to do, and they order extra security for Palmer. Tony discovers evidence of a mole and suspects Mason, and Nina tells him to cut off his database access. Teri demands answers, and Nina is finally forced to tell her that Kim has been captured again. Alexis dies of his injuries with Victor and Andre by his side, and Jack calls Palmer, explaining the situation and asking for his trust. Palmer summons Patty to his hotel room and she reports back to Sherry, but Palmer then coldly fires her, revealing that he knows that she is his wife's spy. He then confronts Sherry, who argues that she is working towards a "higher purpose." Jack arrives and meets with Palmer, and when the Drazens call on the scrambled phone at the scheduled time, Jack realizes that it is a bomb and throws it away just in time. He then convinces Palmer to fake his death to save Kim, and despite Sherry's objections, they leak the story of his assassination to the news, though Mason learns the truth of the ruse and informs Tony and Nina. Jack calls Andre and offers to trade himself for Kim, and then finally calls Teri, who is happy to hear from him and reveals that she is pregnant. An emotional Jack drives off to save his daughter and face his death, but Kim escapes by jumping into the river. The Drazens then receive a phone call from "Yelena," who tells them that Palmer is alive and that they are being tricked, and Nina is revealed as the mole. Commercials deleted.
